Veteran second baseman performs well in Venezuelan Winter League.
The Brief
- Odor went 3-for-4 with a home run for Magallanes.
- He is a 10-year major league veteran.
- Odor signed a minor league deal with the Yankees in 2024.
Rougned Odor recorded three hits in four at-bats, including a home run, during Thursday’s game for Magallanes in the Venezuelan Winter League.
The 32-year-old second baseman, who has played for multiple teams in the majors, is currently playing winter ball after being released by the Yankees following a minor league deal.
Odor previously signed with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball but left the team before Opening Day because the team wanted to assign him to the minors.
Last year, Odor finished fourth in the Venezuelan Winter League with 12 home runs, and he has had a strong start to this season, going 10-for-24 with two homers, two doubles, and five walks in eight games.
Odor has played for the Rangers, Yankees, Padres, Blue Jays, and Baltimore over the past decade.
He was removed from the Padres’ 40-man roster and went unclaimed on waivers.
