Mass demonstrations are taking place across Italy, with protests occurring in multiple cities. The USB trade union is staging a general strike, demanding increased investment in education and measures to address the cost-of-living crisis.

Thousands of protesters marched through Rome, accompanied by tractors and a taxi, passing the Colosseum while waving flags and chanting. A university student described the situation as reaching a breaking point due to rising tuition fees and rent costs.

In Milan, approximately 25,000 protesters gathered, with some marching outside the city. A banner read 'Let's reclaim our future,' and police sealed off surrounding streets without major clashes. In Florence, around 12,000 protesters joined the demonstrations.

Student groups emphasized the impact of rising prices on daily life, stating that wages are losing purchasing power while rent, utility bills, and basic necessities continue to increase. In Trieste, a USB representative warned of a 'hot autumn' of protests and industrial unrest.

Protests also occurred in Pisa, Bologna, Genoa, Cagliari, Naples, Turin, and Verona. In Bologna, riot police blocked access to an underpass, with protesters demanding to pass through. A fire was reported in Genoa, where car tires were set ablaze.

Italian police reported nine arrests and 371 brief detentions during protests in eight cities last Saturday. Of those detained, 110 were minors, according to police.
