Two helicopters crashed Tuesday near Mount Everest's base camp, resulting in at least one fatality and two injuries, officials reported.
The aircraft were transporting trekkers who had been hiking up to the base camp during Nepal's peak trekking season.
Heavy snow had previously blocked the route, but improved weather on Sunday allowed thousands of trekkers to resume movement.
Helicopters are the only means of transport for trekkers and guides who become ill or exhausted at high altitudes on Everest.
The crash occurred in Pheriche village, located at an altitude of 4,200 meters (13,780 feet).
A 47-year-old tourist from India was confirmed dead, according to a district administration officer.
A passenger from New Zealand was injured and being transported to Kathmandu for medical care, while a Nepali pilot received local treatment.
