Guthrie Pleads for Help in Mother’s Kidnapping
TV host seeks public assistance in locating missing 84-year-old mother.
The Brief
- Savannah Guthrie renewed her plea for information about her mother's kidnapping.
- Authorities have not found significant leads in the case since February.
- A task force continues to investigate with support from the FBI.
Savannah Guthrie, co-host of 'TODAY,' has asked for public assistance in finding her missing 8,4-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen in Tucson, Arizona, nearly nine months ago.
Guthrie shared a drawing by her daughter on Instagram, depicting a blue umbrella surrounded by raindrops with a caption expressing the child's longing for her mother.
Authorities have stated that the crime involved a ransom demand, but no significant progress has been made in the investigation since February 1, when Nancy was reported missing.
In July, investigators noted that a hair found at the scene did not lead to a suspect after testing. A task force continues to pursue leads, including recent travel to Florida to consult with lab scientists.
Guthrie emphasized the emotional toll of the situation on her family, calling her mother 'a light in this world' and urging anyone with information to come forward.
The reward for information remains active, and Guthrie has continued to appeal for help, stating her family is 'changed forever' by the tragedy.
