Fortuna reports 1.9 g/t gold over 64 meters at Kabewest
Fortuna Mining Corp. announces initial drilling results at Kabewest, Bambadji Project, Senegal.
The Brief
- Drilling at Kabewest intersected 1.9 g/t gold over 64 meters from 19 meters in drill hole FBRC0008.
- Approximately 70% of assays have been received, with remaining results expected in the coming weeks.
- The results support geological interpretations and show continuity with Diamba Sud mineralization.
Fortuna Mining Corp. reported initial drilling results from the Kabewest prospect at its Bambadji Project in Senegal. The drilling program, which included 45 reverse circulation and diamond drill holes totaling 10,524 meters, has been completed.
Drill hole FBRC0008 returned 1.9 g/t gold over an estimated true width of 64 meters from 19 meters. This result supports the company's geological interpretation and shows similarities to the breccia-hosted mineralization at the nearby Diamba Sud Gold Project.
Fortuna's Senior Vice President of Exploration, Paul Weedon, stated that the results continue to build confidence in the interpreted controls on mineralization and in Bambadji’s potential to expand Diamba Sud. He noted that the company expects to receive the remaining assays in the coming weeks.
The Bambadji Project is located adjacent to the Diamba Sud Gold Project. The initial drilling at Kabewest intersected broad mineralized intervals, including 1.9 g/t gold over 64 meters, 1.4 g/t gold over 29.6 meters, and 3.1 g/t gold over 24.2 meters. These results strengthen the current geological interpretation and demonstrate geological continuity with the breccia-hosted mineralization at Diamba Sud.
Mineralization has been intersected over more than 600 meters of strike and remains open along strike and at depth, providing clear opportunities for systematic follow-up drilling. Geological model updates are progressing and will incorporate the complete assay dataset to support preparation of an initial Inferred Mineral Resource estimate for Kabewest.
Fortuna expects to include the estimate in its annual Mineral Reserve and Mineral Resource update, planned for publication in the first quarter of 2027. The company also noted that the six drill rigs have been relocated to the Wari and Latifa prospects, where three rigs will test areas defined by historical drilling. Work is also progressing to refine targets for the 2027 field season using geochemical and geophysical data across more than 60 kilometers of strike within the Bambadji Project, where three mineralized trends have been identified.
