Fort George Belize, a hotel in Belize City, has joined the Autograph Collection Hotels, a portfolio under Marriott Bonvoy. The hotel is now part of Marriott International’s travel program.
The hotel, located in the historic Fort George neighborhood, is expanding its accommodations to include 130 rooms, with the addition of the Signature Sea View Tower. This expansion includes 66 new guestrooms and two Signature Sea View Penthouses.
The new tower, designed by Arguelles Architects, features expansive windows offering views of the Caribbean Sea and Belize City. It incorporates natural textures, locally inspired artwork, and design elements reflecting Belize’s landscape and culture.
The hotel’s culinary offerings will also expand, with the addition of Marea, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, and The George, a concept that transitions from a coffee bar by day to a cocktail lounge by night, using Belizean botanicals.
The expansion includes new amenities such as a waterfront swimming pool and retail boutique, along with additional meeting and event spaces. These spaces will add approximately 4,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.
Officials said the expansion aims to enhance the guest experience by integrating art, storytelling, and cultural elements throughout the property. Historical and contemporary art will be displayed, with some pieces featuring QR codes for additional context.
