The Brief

  • 16 singles will travel to Finland between February 9 and 19, 2027.
  • Participants will enjoy Finnish food and group dinners with local singles.
  • Applications close on November 10, 2026, with winners announced in December.

Visit Finland, the country's tourism board, has launched a campaign inviting single people from around the world to an all-expenses-paid trip to Finland. The initiative, called the 'Finnish Dinner Date,' will bring 16 singles to the Nordic nation between February 9 and 19, 2027.

The program includes regional Finnish cuisine such as wild fish, berries, and foraged mushrooms, prepared by top local chefs. Participants will also attend group dinners in Helsinki and Tampere, where they will meet local singles in a relaxed setting.

The tourism board will cover all travel, accommodation, and meal costs for the participants. The campaign is inspired by a Finnish dating trend known as 'sinkkukori,' or 'single basket,' where supermarket chains offer pink baskets to signal openness to dating.

Visit Finland acknowledged that while Italian and Chinese cuisines are well-known globally, Finnish food remains underrated in Europe. Heli Jimenez, Senior Director of International Marketing at Business Finland, noted that food is central to how Finns connect with each other and their environment.

Applicants must be 18 years or older, single, and not residents of Finland. They must submit a video in English answering the question, 'What would you serve on a dinner date, and why?' The video must be posted on a public social media account with the hashtag #FinnishDinnerDate and tag Visit Finland.

Applications are due by November 10, 2026, at 11:59 AM Finnish time. The 16 selected participants will be announced on December 1 via Visit Finland's Instagram and TikTok accounts.
