Dewan Rakyat to Discuss Minimum Wage, Refugee Registration, Gaza Crisis
Parliament session focuses on key economic, refugee, and humanitarian issues.
The Brief
- Minimum wage increase to RM2,000 from June 2027 will be discussed.
- Myanmar refugee registration targets and timelines will be addressed.
- Gaza humanitarian crisis and government response will be examined.
The Dewan Rakyat will address several key issues during its session on Tuesday, including the implementation of the RM2,000 minimum wage from June 2027, the registration of Myanmar refugees, and measures to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
During the Minister's Question Time, Aminolhuda Hassan will ask the Economy Minister about mechanisms to ensure the minimum wage increase does not lead to job losses, price hikes, or increased costs for small businesses.
Jimmy Puah Wee Tse will question the Home Minister regarding the target number of Myanmar refugees to be registered over the next two years through the Refugee Registration Document (DPP) Programme, including the timeline for implementation.
Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman will ask the Foreign Minister about the government's strategic steps following three years of genocide in Gaza, focusing on protection for Palestinians, aid access, international accountability, and Gaza reconstruction.
Following the question-and-answer session, the house will continue debating the Supply Bill 2027 at the policy stage, following the tabling of Budget 2027 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Friday.
The Dewan Rakyat's session is part of a 37-day schedule running until December 8, with the policy-stage debate on Budget 2027 set from October 12 to 22.
