Canelo Alvarez retained the WBC super middleweight title after defeating Christian Mbilli in a 12-round decision in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight took place as part of the main event on Saturday.

Alvarez, who previously lost the title to Terence Crawford in September 2025, won the bout with scores of 115-112, 116-111, and 117-110. Mbilli, who entered the fight with an undefeated record, failed to mount a significant challenge.

Mbilli, who had previously won the interim WBC title and was later elevated to undisputed status after Crawford’s retirement, struggled to find an effective rhythm against Alvarez’s counterpunching and body work. The champion’s performance was described as workmanlike but effective.

In Round 7, Alvarez landed a powerful uppercut that was the hardest punch of the fight up to that point. The bout took a decisive turn in the eighth round when Mbilli was docked a point for an illegal blow to the back of the head.

Alvarez maintained a steady pace throughout the remainder of the fight, preventing Mbilli from gaining any momentum. The judges’ scores reflected the dominance of the Mexican fighter in the final rounds.

After the fight, Alvarez spoke about the significance of reclaiming the title, calling it an 'unbelievable' moment. He also mentioned plans to take a two-week vacation before returning to training.
