A boat carrying approximately 350 people from Djibouti to Yemen capsized north of the town of Obock, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
The IOM reported at least 109 migrants, including 15 children, have died, with more than 116 missing in the incident.
IOM chief of mission in Djibouti, Alexandre Coissac, said IOM teams were on the ground alongside Djiboutian authorities to provide emergency aid.
The IOM noted more than 20,000 crossings from Ethiopia into Djibouti since September 10, with many migrants stranded in the country.
The agency reported more than 900 migrants died or went missing along the maritime route to Yemen in 2025, with a 18% increase in crossings compared to previous years.
The IOM urged donors and partner organizations to increase support for Djibouti, focusing on search and rescue operations and life-saving aid.
