The Maronite Archeparchy of Haifa issued a statement condemning the vandalism of the prayer hall of Saints Peter and Paul in Nahariya. The attack occurred on November 1, which is the Solemnity of All Saints.
Members of the Christian community in Nahariya discovered broken statues and vandalized religious images inside the prayer hall. Unidentified individuals had entered the premises, damaged and destroyed its contents, and violated its sacred character.
Archbishop Moussa El-Hage stated that the attack was a grave and unacceptable act, not only against Church property, but above all against the sacred character of a place dedicated to worship and against the right of the faithful to practice their religion freely, safely, and with dignity.
The Archeparchy emphasized that the sacred character of places of worship must never be compromised. It reiterated that freedom of worship is a sacred right that must be respected and protected for all, without exception.
The Archeparchy called on competent authorities and security services to investigate the attack, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice. It also demanded measures to protect the place of worship and prevent future incidents.
The Christian community affirmed its intention to continue using the hall and holding prayers there, with faith, determination, and serenity, while awaiting judicial proceedings and the prosecution of those responsible.
