Apple uncertain about when more foldable iPhones will be available
Apple's new leadership says it cannot predict when additional iPhone Duo units will be available.
The Brief
- iPhone Duo sold out quickly after release.
- Apple says it does not know when more units will be available.
- Company replaces cracked phones but does not mention issues during financial call.
Apple's new chief executive, John Ternus, stated the company is working to make more foldable iPhones available to the public after the $1,999 model sold out shortly after its release.
Sabhi Kahn, Apple's new chief operating officer, said the company has no current timeline for when additional iPhone Duo units will be available, citing supply and demand challenges.
During a financial call, Apple executives did not address any issues with the iPhone Duo, though the company previously announced it would replace devices affected by a screen-cracking problem.
Apple reported global iPhone sales rose 17% to $57 billion during the three months ending 26 September, which excluded the recently launched iPhone Duo.
Despite supply constraints for key components like microprocessors, Apple said it sold more iPhones globally in the past year than ever before.
Kahn noted that supply issues for Apple devices are expected to persist into next year, particularly affecting iPads and Macs, due to high demand and limited availability of advanced computer chips.
