Canelo Alvarez regained the WBC super-middleweight championship after defeating Christian Mbilli by unanimous decision in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The judges awarded the fight scores of 115-112, 116-111, and 117-110, marking Mbilli’s first professional loss.

Alvarez, returning for the first time since losing his undisputed title to Terence Crawford in September 2025, secured the victory with precise counterpunching and a strong second-half performance.

Mbilli’s pressure and activity made the first half competitive, but Alvarez adjusted by using body punches and counters, gaining control in the sixth round with a right uppercut and straight right.

Alvarez continued to dominate the exchanges, interrupting Mbilli’s advances with cleaner shots and inviting exchanges from advantageous positions.

A referee deducted a point from Mbilli in the seventh round for a punch to the back of Alvarez’s head, further shifting momentum in the Mexican’s favor.

In the final rounds, Alvarez controlled the action with his jab, wobbling Mbilli with a late right to secure the win.

Alvarez credited his trainer, Eddy Reynoso, for instructing him to move, box, and maintain his jab throughout the fight.
