2026 Gold Glove Winners Announced
MLB honors top defensive players with awards results released.
The Brief
- Dillon Dingler wins second consecutive Gold Glove as Detroit Tigers' catcher.
- Gabriel Moreno becomes second catcher to win Gold Glove and batting title in same season.
- Mauricio Dubón earns third Gold Glove as utility player since 2022.
The 2026 Gold Glove Awards were announced on Sunday, recognizing the best defensive players in Major League Baseball. The awards were given out following the conclusion of the 2026 season.
In the American League, Dillon Dingler of the Detroit Tigers was named the best catcher, while Christian Walker of the Houston Astros won the first base award. Cole Young of the Seattle Mariners took home second base honors.
Gabriel Moreno of the Arizona Diamondbacks became the second catcher in MLB history to win a Gold Glove and batting title in the same season. He joined the ranks of Joe Mauer, who achieved this feat in 2008 and 2009.
Moreno's performance this season included a .311 batting average, .388 on-base percentage, .486 slugging percentage, 16 home runs, and 83 RBI. His teammates Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo also won Gold Gloves, making them the third group of Diamondbacks players to achieve this in the same year.
Dingler's second consecutive Gold Glove made him the fourth Tigers player to win the award multiple times and the first since Iván Rodríguez in 2007. Alex Bregman of the Chicago Cubs won his second Gold Glove, joining Hall of Famer Ron Santo as the only other Cubs third basemen to achieve this.
Mauricio Dubón of the Atlanta Braves earned his third Gold Glove as a utility player, making him the only player in that category to win the award since the category was introduced in 2022.
